Gig?
It's made in Java.

It's under 50MB.

...And, it self-installs the components. You play online, it downloads components, you download the exe, you play it, it updates. That simple. Or you can always play in-browser.

Although this isn't necessary... for anyone who sees this topic in future:
The Minecraft.exe launcher is by itself around 300kb (from memory). The actual game itself is about 5mb (including jarfiles, sounds, etc.)... which is quite amazing considering the considerable amount of RAM and graphical memory the game takes up. On my PC, it uses about 600mb of RAM on a good day, and perhaps a little less graphical memory (haven't found a reliable way to test how much graphical memory programs are using).

A word of caution: Do not attempt to play minecraft without a half-decent video card, and a fair amount of ram. At the moment, i play MC using an onboard graphics chipset, which has about 512mb graphical memory. Even then, and with 4GB of ram, i only get about 25-32fps. Which is not excellent, but is reasonably good.

I've played it on my netbook. And to my surprise, it actually got 10-15 FPS.

Hello there, Vexx. Would you happen to have a Facepunch account by chance?
